This safari starts at around 6.15 am when you are collected from your Cape Town hotel for a two and a half hour drive into the Western Cape Interior. After driving through the Hottentots Holland range of mountains we enter the Breede River valley and follow the river to its source in the Warm Bokkeveld. Ceres a small village at the centre of the Cape's deciduous fruit growing district is where we have a quick stop before continuing our tour to the centre of the Little Karoo.

On arrival at our destination, a private game reserve, we are met by their friendly staff and whisked off for a cup of tea or a cooldrink before boarding their 4 X 4 vehicles for a game drive. Over the next two hours all eyes are on stalks while we search for buffalo, rhino, giraffe, zebra, kudu, waterbuck, red hartebeest, black wildebeest, eland, impala and some of the 165 diferent bird species that occur in the area. We will also visit the lion and cheetah projects being undertaken in the reserve.

Exhausted after the morning of game spotting we head back to the lodge where lunch is served under an open air boma style restaurant. After lunch there is still time to enjoy a quick swim and explore the gift shop before boarding our coach for the homeward drive.

The return journey follows a slightly different route through the winelands of the Breede River Valley and then through the Huguenot tunnel along the N1 highway to Cape Town where we should arrive at approximately 17.30pm
