Visiting the winelands of the Western Cape is an experience most visitors will not forget. After an early morning pickup (around 8.30 am) from your hotel we head out to Stellenbosch along the N1 highway. Our wine tour will take us to Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl three of a number of wine growing areas in the Cape. In each district we will visit a winery to taste their wines. Included in the day trip is one cellar tour where visitors are shown the intricacies of wine making on the wine estate being visited. Our first wine tasting of the day is at a farm in the Stellenbosch/Kuilsriver district where on arrival we will find a table laid with wine tasting glasses awaiting us.

After tasting our first batch of South African wines our tour gruop who were strangers at the start of the tour have become friends and have started exchanging email addresses. Amazing how quickly wine turns strangers into friends. After our first tasting our tour group just cannot wait for the drive through the historic village of Stellenbosch where a short tour is undertaken. Time permitting you can even do some quick shopping at the craft markets in Stellenmbosch. Leaving Stellenbosch we make our way over Helshoogte pass to our next stop which is Franschhoek. We normally have lunch here where no doubt a number of bottles of Franschhoek's best wine are consumed before visiting our second wine estate for our second wine tasting of the day.

The fun really starts now as our happy tourists struggle into the coach for the leisurely drive through the Drakenstein valley to historic old Paarl village which we drive through before heading for our final wine estate of the day where we enjoy some more splendid wines and pick up a few bottles for the rest of our South African holiday.

The trip back to Cape Town takes about an hour and during this period most tourists nod off to charge their batteries for the evenings entertainment.
